War of attrition as Touchers get back in winning circle

Chairman: "Backs to the wall from those left standing" The Chairman was choking back tears as he spoke those words right after the final siren and seeing his core unit overcome a test of courage. In the cooling evening of a long hot spring day in Sydney, the crowd was tense and concerned. They were not sure if the people's team could come back after the loss inflicted on them last week by the teenagers and the administrators of the game. History has shown that the Overtouchers lift when there is a fight. They are known to scream the words 'Challenge Accepted' when life throws up its bad times. Last night was a night like that and once again the mountain men from Terrey Hills sort glory and were rewarded with 9-3 victory. VC goes missing in time of need With only 8 players on the playing roster for last nights game, a message was received on my phone at 7.32pm from the VC stating " I'm out ! The wife not home yet ! Good luck !" Firstly h...

A Tough night for Touchers

New boys shine in hard fought encounter After hearing of the 16-0 demolition in week one, last nights opponents of the Overtouchers failed to show up for their turn. So the Touch Football Commission [TFC] chose to entertain the crowds with an exhibition game which saw the Touchers take on Teenagers. The premiers went down 6 to 4 but they were not disgraced.  On the rock hard ground the two time premiership defending unit had two players see their first outing for 2012. Big Man Milton brought along Teenage sensation Justin Bieber. Bieber came off a season ending knee injury to provide the Touchers with a lower median age classification. Their effect was immediate as they tore the youngsters left hand edge apart. With smooth precision Bieber inserted Milton into the gap. However, as the Big Man took off for the line he was shot by a sniper in the crowd and he came crashing to the ground like a wilderbeast in the High Veldt of Africa. Or so it seemed..... However, momen...

Whitewash in Season Opener

Touchers show their class After walking from the field after Grand Final glory in 2011. Chairman Ballo knew the task of keeping the core of his team together would be the battle of his life. Challenge accepted !!!! For the crowd to turn up to the 2012 season opener and see the likes of the VC, Big Bad Brett, Jonty, Faz, Bill, Bob The Builder, the Chairman himself and yours truly re-take the field was a dream come true and they were rewarded with their loyalty. While the team took the paddock without Milton, The Locksmith and the Phantom all on overseas commissions, the early entry for 'Buy of the Year' delivered a double try effort on debut. During the off-season the Vice Captain recruited a kiwi international, who for the last time will be called Bernie. Forthwith he shall be called KIWI. His constant driving through the middle of the paddock brought joy to the group and a constant headache to the opposition. When offered nicknames of Richie McCaw and Buck Shelfor...
