Twas the night before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a Toucher was stirring, not even the HOF. The stockings were hung by the VB bar with care, In hopes that The Chairman soon would be there. The kids were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of winning games danced in their heads. And the VC in old man shorts, and I in my baseball cap, Had just settled our brains for a very big drink. When out on the prize winning lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the couch to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen gum leaves Made such a mess that the VC would fix tomorrow When, what to my blood shot eyes should appear, But a Triton Ute, and nine fellow Toucher's. With a little old driver, so achingly slow, I knew in a moment it must be the Chairman. More rapid than eagles his Touchers they came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name! ...

Chamber to Champion, Jonty ends touching 2013 in style

Going into a new competition in 2013 the Touchers had many challenges in front of them. Distance, anxiety, proper referees and ageing soft tissue. All of the Touchers took on these challenges and the calendar year has seen no losses for some of the greatest touchers of all time. Jonty stood tall alongside his fellow touchers and overcame soft tissue damage. The speedster went to extreme measures to ensure his 100% attendance record was maintained in 2013. Jonty sought out the benefits of hyperbaric chamber injury management and embraced it...some would say a little too much. The source of truth Wikipedia, thats right BBB I have ignored your plea of sanity in information gathering, Wikipedia tells us this about Hyperbaric medicine: Hyperbaric medicine , also known as  hyperbaric oxygen therapy  (HBOT), is the medical use of  oxygen  at a level higher than  atmospheric pressure . The equipment required consists of a pressure chamber, which may be of r...

Toucher's win again, but may pay a price

The great author, warrior, drinker and lover Ernest Hemingway once said: "Courage is grace...under pressure" Hello I am FMJ and I write to you from the Far North Queensland peninsula of this vast wide island once known as Van Diemans land. As I commence my journey back south of the tweed on the 'morrow, I have scavenged my sources to understand what happened last night. I have been trying to know why, how, who and what happened.  Answers are needed and to get those I sought out one of the 20th centuries great orators in Ernest to start tonight's report. Courage is truly defined as grace under pressure.  Pressure is what creates greatness.  A diamond is only created through 1000's tonnes of pressure, and the result is a sparkling rock that holds many sides and none look the same. How could the Toucher's go into a top of the table clash without key elements that make up the diamond that is the OVERTOUCHERS? After a last minute fitness test the ...

Touchers head back to the field

After 5 weeks without touching, the men are keen to get back to the fields of Narrabeen this fine evening. I'm FMJ and I am writing to you from 2,800 kilometres away at a reading of 16.9256S, 145.77563E where I am attending a touch football conference as the keynote speaker.  My speech brought rapturous applause as my topic was on the running plays of the great Touching team of 2010 and how they have improved with the guidance of key player recruiting. I also touched on some key winger defence lapses and how we overcame those. I went into great detail with PowerPoint presentations. I even ran a few impromptu plays with the crowd. You know...audience participation. That really got things going. I must say some of them picked up the outside back defensive techniques a little better than others !!!! But turning back to the northern beaches, tonight is all about courage under pressure with the Touchers needing to call on that inner grit as they will be down in nu...

All guns blazing for the OTs

With temperatures dropping across the Sydney basin the Overtoucher's heated things up to finish the first round of the competition with a 4 and 4 start. This see's them sit high atop the competition ladder. Self doubt and anxiety was strewn across the faces of most players after the motion was carried to leave the warm comfy blanket of the Belrose touch football competition and take on the new challenges of open age touch football down by the dark and stormy ocean coast. The Touchers who mostly live high on the escarpment of Terrey Hills were demanded by the order of the committee to ply their trade at sea level.  With victories of 10-1, 8-5, 7-3 and 10-1 the Touchers have set themselves up as the team to beat. With good front runner form, the OT's go into the next round of games full of youth, vigour and Tooheys Dry in some peoples cases. In an attempt to throw off the OT's, the event organisers moved the fixture last evening to a new battle ground.  I overheard...

The Return

A cool spring breeze was blowing across the open plains of Narrabeen last evening and with it brought the return of two leaders of men. That breeze also finally delivered the Waratah and thus commission can be paid to BBB. Much needed with the summer fashion season ahead of us. BBB likes to be a sharped dressed man. The line up was a good one and needed to be. The opponents were also undefeated and had scored 35 tries in just 3 games and had only let in 9.  With apologies from Milt, Jonty and the Locksmith the team sheet looked like this: The Chairman The VC Supercoach HOF Rookie BBB B1 B2 [The Waratah] Note he is un-financial at this time FMJ Milt was called off to a sponsors function at the last minute. We hope Penfold's will take up the 3 by 3 year extension due to the big man's dedication to their products. The Locksmith was called out to catch a wild bear deep in the Forests of Duffys and he hasn't been heard from since. We hope the bear is recovering...

A week off doesn't mean OT's slack off

The OverToucher's are enjoying a well earned week off and it came at the right time. After driving through the first two weeks with convincing victories. the OT's have had the chance to re-align their goals for season 2013/2014. The core unit is looking for the return of key forces to help support the burden that was thrust upon them whilst the Chairman, HOF, B2 and others chose to either enjoy themselves or they had better things to do than be a Toucher. My spies have been out and about and been sent as far away as Germany to monitor how each player has treated themselves during the 14 days without competition. Jonty has been tweeting from within his hyperbaric chamber and told the world how he is enjoying the isolation of the chamber. I am stumped to know how he gets that thing through the armed guards at Optus's compound out at North Ryde. Bob the Builder/Rookie has been going through a series of drills that Supercoach and I have given him on how wingers should...

An important day another important win

Under the gaze of the spring moon, clarity was brought to the park last evening. Coming off a big first round win the OTs took on a young band of kids with long full flowing hair, caps on backwards and bodies yet to be rattled with the test of time. The OTs don't have the flowing hair or the bum fluff of oncoming youthful facial hair. The OTs have oncoming baldness and/or the salt n pepper colouring of the remaining follicles and some of those are not just on their heads. The OTs have mortgages. The OTs have jobs that require more brain power than those needed to flip burgers or to be at the working end of a shovel. It's that kind of experience that only Father Time can lump upon a mere male that saw the OTs present the kind of performance that was seen on Tuesday night. The OTs drove the nail in on an 8-5 victory. Across the first two rounds, the for and against tally is 18 for and just 6 against in 60 minutes of classic football. The ole geezers score every 3 minute...

Back to Business in 2013

After an arduous off season that included a change of competition after three premierships in a row, player discontent, scandal and intrigue, the Overtoucher's pushed all that aside and got back to business in the season opening game to put their opponents to the sword by defeating them 10-1. The OT's roster was boosted through an off season buying spree led by the Chairman and BBB, who is hoping to move from champion player to formidable administrator, something the OT's are not short of. The player list reached eleven with new recruits, known at this time as B1 and B2 until official names are assigned. The naming ceremony is yet to be scheduled.  The open 12th spot stands for the retired Faz. Faz has left the game but as the words say in the 1977 Eagles smash hit "he can never leave". There has been a hold on the commission payment to BBB due to the non-appearance of his heralded recruit B2 the Waratah. His name could have been Phantom but big man Milt h...

A summer of dis-content

With summer drawing to a close i felt it timely to review the time since three peat 2012 was declared and look forward to 2013 where we see Australia in an election year and the OverTouchers in a year of leadership transition. In February we discovered that the Vice Captain had undertaken to demonstrate his premiership qualities at a tired old local touch footy get together. Attending such an event whilst under contract and without the approval of the third party participation sub-committee chaired by Big Man Milt, has him in breach. Pouring more salt on the ramifications of his juvenile behaviours was that he tore the calf muscle off the bone whilst trying to cover his teams mates mis-read on a defensive lapse. Will the VC be capable to be ready for game 1 ??? Whilst there are un proven reports of him riding a 200km road bike ride in record time, it's his ongoing mis-direction of energy that is upsetting the Chairman in these off season unsettling times of new TV contracts a...
