The new season awaits: Maintain the Rage

IF ITS WORTH DOING ONCE, ITS WORTH DOING 3 TIMES As the snowflake melts to join a trickle and joins a stream to form a creek; these creeks are forming to create a mighty river that is the ' Over - Touchers ' 2012 Touch Footy Campaign. As the world nervously await the selections of the core unit of the 2012 Touchers , The Chairman and his task force 'Get the Best'; have taken reports of the 2011 team and what each member has been doing in the off season to ensure they are ready to shoot out of the blocks come game one. These forming creeks are each players off-season contribution to the mighty river of the 2012 campaign. The Chairman is going over his list and he is checking it twice....he is trying to find out who is....well I think you get the rest. The VC has reported in, and informed this shrinking violet of a sports commentator, that he and the Locksmith have been playing together nicely. They have found solace in the knowledge that glory is n...

Off Season report 2012

Date 18th April 2012 As Phil Collins sang in the 23rd December 1989 release of his hit song 'Another Day in Paradise' from the award winning Faces album "...its another day for you and me in Paradise." With the rain bucketing down over the Cumberland Plains we look behind and beyond at the amazing adventures of the Overtouchers and their journey to 6 consecutive premierships. Yes that's right, six. That is the target number that the Vice Captain has demanded the team set its sights on. So that the outfit can be seen on parallel with the QLD State of Origin team. Only history can judge the greatness of these teams but for now we can only look to the honor board and see 2010 & 2011premiers ' Overtouchers ' in fine gold italic print. I am tasked in accordance with the by-laws of the ' Overtouchers ' to provide an update on the off-season and adventures of each of the team. Please note that this following information has been collated...

2011 Team player awards

Congratulations to all winners Date 16th December 2011 Falcon award This goes to new boy Jonty. As that ball flew into his head I couldsee the split second as Jonty gasped..."oh no not again". His prize is a years supply of panadol. Well done on a great season Jonty. Blow up award Well there were a few contenders for this one. If Milton and Biggsy had attended more games they would have easily taken out this prize. For a while there Bill was going to go back to back on this award after his clear win in 2010. But the winner for 2011 was Full Metal. His prize is a 2 week camp at Sprinkling Farms, Sydneys leading stress relief facility. Frank Sinatra award 'You will do it MYYYYYY WAAAYYYY' There was only one player who collected points on this award The Chairman. Only through his caring words on the paddock did we know what he wanted done and how. Buys of the year Well so many contenders in this one. The Rookie brought out of a 20 year retirement to put ...

2011 Over 35 touch footy champions

Date 16th December 2011 As the thousands left the ground last night after seeing the Overtouchers retain the Touch Footy premiership you could sense their feelings of adulation and pride in this mighty team.  By off loading deadwood in the off season and achieving some key player signings, the Chairman had corralled a team from the pastures of Terrey Hills that were faster stronger and fitter than the 2010 model. More improvement than what was seen from the 1974 Leyland P76 to the 1975 model, oh yes a whole lot more. At the Belrose battle fields the Touchers went into the Grand Final play off feeling loose and ready to go. With five reserves the selection committee chose to put the fittest fastest starting 7 off the field, leaving the teams ball players Chairman, Harro and Full Metal on the sidelines. The strategy was clear go hard go fast and don't drop the pill. But alas in the first set of 6, the VC dropped the pill. The VC was tense and on edge last...

Round 5, 2011

Youths win but old hearts are not broken An old vendetta is served by the President Date 18th November 2011 After 13 undefeated games over 2 seasons, it took a team of Under 23's with an NRL player, a national touch football representative and a group of Sydney's finest coached A reserve grade players to bring the Overtouchers to their first defeat. The game was an exhibition event to draw in the crowds, meaning the loss did not see the Overtouchers officially lose their undefeated record, the Touchers should be very proud of holding the score to just 9-4. Tries to Harro and the Rookie were complimented by a two try extravaganza from Full Metal. Now this lowly ole sports writer can tell you with complete confidence that the [not so] big fella hasn't bagged a double since the Reagan Administration declared the Star Wars defence shield program a goer. When Full Metal deployed some long since forgotten rugby mauling skills to score his second meat pie [mmm...

Round 4, 2011

Ballesty,Beards and BIGGSGATE This weeks review is proudly brought to you by  * id8Studio , your first choice in point of sale displays in your store Date 11th November 2011 On a night that was important to the evolution of the Overtouchers the New Kids On the Block showed the way. Coming off the last game that saw nothing but tension, anger and downright lack of fun, the reigning premiers needed to step up and perform. It was the newcomers of 2011 to the team that decided to take the bull by the horns and show the old hard heads the way forward. Lets get down to the guts of it okay....the game is all about winning, nothing more nothing less and that's the core deliverable of this team. You don't go undefeated for your last 13 games without a mantra that demands excellence. Led proudly by the Chairman, the team was at full capacity....well sort of but I will get to that later in this highly acclaimed match report. The team that chose to ...

Round 3, 2011

BIFF, BARGE and a WIN against the odds + an apology Date: 4th November 2012 With the Chairman heading north this morning on a scouting mission with his sidekick Pillhead, Full Metal Jacket your sporting writer with over 20 years experience in writing about the inside story's that matter, has been entrusted with the game reporting of the Overtouchers. I only hope I can keep to the standards reached by the Chairman in last weeks report. The Overtouchers compete in an over 35 summer touch footy competition in the northern beaches of Sydney in the sleepy tree-lined burrow of Belrose In opening I will be calling David Gallop and David Perry this very day to request an inquest into the Belrose Touch Football competition. Yes, they have no direct jurisdiction over the competition but they do hold some tenuous links to the Belrose Rugby League Football Club underway which our competition is run. To allow so many under 35's to play against the older generat...
